What’s On?

Awareness Week will see events taking place all over the UK to raise money and awareness for CLAPA and cleft lip & palate. Whether it’s a marathon a cake sale or a talk at a local school, tell us about it to make sure you get all the support you need and to be featured on our events calendar!

Saturday 11th May

LEWES, Sussex – Mid Sussex Happy Faces Group Launch – The first meeting of this informal support group – all parents/carers of a child with a cleft (including expecting parents!) welcome.

BRIGHTON – Brighton Sponsored Walk – Join us for our second annual walk along the Brighton Seafront. This is an official CLAPA event and will have staff members present.

REDDITCH, Worcestershire – Fun Day – Selena Foster is putting on a Fun Day from 11AM-3PM at Woodrow First School

LIVINGSTONE, West Lothian – Charity Gig – Lynzie Dray is putting on a gig at Howden Park Centre to benefit CLAPA.

EDINBURGH – Branch AGM – Edinburgh Branch AGM, 7PM Mint Hotel, all welcome.

Tuesday 14th May

LONDON – Cake Sale – Dental Students at Kings College London will be holding a cake sale.

ABERGAVENNY – Cake Sale – Annie Clothier will be holding a cake sale at Nevill Hall Hospital, NP7 7EG

LIVERPOOL – Branch AGM – Merseyside Branch AGM, 7:30PM, Alder Hey Hospital

ST ATHAN, South Wales – Head Shave & Cake Sale – The organiser of South Wales Happy Faces is holding a fundraising cake sale where a friend will be sponsored to get her head shaved.

GLASGOW – Raffle – Angela Liddell will be holding a raffle, details to follow.

ABERGAVENNY – Cake Sale – Annie Clothier will be holding a cake sale at Nevill Hall Hospital, NP7 7EG

Friday 17th May

ROMSEY, Hampshire – Wessex Branch AGM – A day out in Frankie’s Fun Factory – perfect for the kids while the grown-ups chat about the future of the Branch.

SALISBURY – Happy Faces Wiltshire – Happy Faces Wiltshire will be meeting up at 10:30 at Clown About in the Outburst Activity Centre, Salisbury. All local parents and carers of a child with a cleft are welcome, as are your little ones!

Saturday 18th May

SHEFFIELD – Sheffield Sponsored Walk – Join us for an easy, family-friendly sponsored walk through the beautiful Damflask Reservoir in Sheffield.

HYDE PARK, London – London Sponsored Walk – Join us for a sponsored walk through the famous Hyde Park in Central London and take in the sights and sounds of the city from within one of the country’s most beautiful parks.

GRIMSBY, Lincolnshire – Charity Ball – Lucy Austwick is organising a Ball on behalf of CLAPA.

MERSEYSIDE – Sponsored Walk – Organised by Laura Preston, Details to follow.

BIRMINGHAM – Children and Young People’s Council Meeting – A meeting of CLAPA’s CYPC to discuss issues relevant to children and young people across the UK with a cleft.

Sunday 19th May

CAMBRIDGE – Celebration Event – An Event focusing on families and children affected by cleft and how our Regional Coordinators Project is helping to expand CLAPA’s services near you. It will include a brief presentation from Penny and Director of Regional Development Claire Cunniffe, as well as a visit from the Addenbrooke’s Cleft Team.

DERRY, Northern Ireland – Derry Sponsored Walk – Join us for a sponsored walk over Derry’s famous bridges, from Ebrington Square and back again with a route that takes in the sights of the city.

South Wales – Party – Lizzi Lewis is organising a fundraising party, headshave and collection. Details to follow.

MANCHESTER – Manchester Sponsored Walk – Join us for a sponsored walk through the gorgeous Heaton Park in Manchester, with a route that takes full advantage of all the features of this park to the North of the main city.
